Steen Krogh Jespersen

Write a Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steen Jespersen, a beloved father, artist, and vibrant soul, on September 28th. He leaves behind his two daughters, Julia Jespersen and Maria Jespersen, who will forever cherish the memories they made together.

Steen was a man of many talents. As an artist, chef, and lawyer, his creativity and passion touched every aspect of his life. He was known for his vibrant personality and loved to open his home to friends and family, where laughter flowed as freely as the Tuborg and fine wines he loved to share.

Among his most cherished memories were those spent with his daughters—hiking Tea Pot, teaching them to ride bikes at Parksville, and digging for fresh clams on Savoury Island for his famous clam chowders.

After a long, courageous battle, Steen is finally at rest. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

The family asks that you raise a glass in Steen’s honor, and remember the joy he brought to your lives.

How sad I was when I saw that my cousin Steen had died. It is more than 30 years ago that I last met him and his family in Denmark. He lived i Denmark his first 5-6 years before going to Canada. In about 1970 he stayed in Denmark for a year, lived by my parents and me. We had great times, discussing, partying and enjoying a.o. Tivoli i Copenhagen. RIP

My time with Steen was 6 years at UBC, first Science then Commerce then Law. He was indeed a polymath, and I am grateful for his introducing me to Monty Python, Robert Heinlein, haute cuisine, Jethro Tull and much more. Truly a special person.
RIP, homo novus.
