Son of (the late) Carol and Doug Hutchinson, brother to Dave (Susan) and Sharon, and Uncle to Bryan, Paul, Nicole, Mathew and a dear friend to many. Rob had been battling a few serious illnesses the past few years, and put up a great fight! He passed away peacefully, in his sleep with his brother, Dave by his side, at Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster, BC.
We would like to thank the exceptional nurses, doctors and staff at RCH who assisted Rob while he was there, and showed their true caring.
Rob was born in Penarth, Wales, moved to Vancouver as a youngster, and grew up in South Vancouver. He made his last home in New Westminster for the past 15 years.
Rob was a hairstylist at Champers for many years, and then transitioned into office administration, working for the BC NDP, and BC Hydro. He was well loved by his coworkers, and was a hard worker!
Rob was quick witted and loved a good laugh, often at humorous situations he got himself into. He had a way of making people feel at ease. He had a marvelous voice, and should have tried out for Canada’s Got Talent! He would have won for sure!!! He could break into song in any situation, including in the pre-op area before a knee surgery at Christmas!!!! The staff asked him to finish the song when he woke up!! He had a heart of gold, and forgiving to a fault. He was the type of guy to give the shirt off his back if needed, including going out on some cold nights to give coats and gloves to the unhoused in the winter!
We all miss you Rob. You were so special and we are sure you are singing and dancing wherever you are!
If so inclined, donations can be made to Katie’s Place Small Animal Shelter as they were close to Rob’s heart or any charity of your choice.

“ And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing
You're every line, you're every word
You're everything “
You took me in when nobody wanted me. I’ll never forget our time navigating life together. I love you my singing partner.

RIP Rob. Condolences to Dave & Sharon and family. Rob was a good guy and I enjoyed him as my passenger on the 123 in New West. Free of pain and reunited with his parents. Rest easy Rob.
