Richard Mosoronchon passed away peacefully,  on June 19th, 2023 at the age of 87 years in Surrey, BC.

He was born in Russell, Manitoba in 1936 and raised by his parents Alex and Annie. He was a dad, uncle, cousin, husband, son and friend.

He started his career and family in Calgary during the 60’s in oil, then later moved to Vancouver Island where he worked in the insurance industry where he was honored with several awards. He enjoyed working for CHQB, served as a volunteer Fire Chief/Lieutenant at the Black Creek volunteer fire department, and was one of the founders of the Black Creek Lions Club. He was well known as a local salmon-fishing guide with over 30 years of guided saltwater fishing adventures in the Campbell River, Quadra Island, and Saratoga Beach areas. “He always loved sharing his many fishing stories!”  He was co-owner of Dick & Di’s campground for over 30 years and held the position of president of the Upper Island local of B.C. Motel, Resorts and Trailer park association for a bit.

He enjoyed being on stage, and was well known to Calgary audiences in the 1960’s when he appeared in shows like Oklahoma!, The Merry Widow, Pagliacci, and Moss Hart’s, Light up the Sky. 

You could find Richard on a Curling rink as he loved a good Bonspiel and the socializing that went along with it.  He won several trophies with his friends and was an experienced “Skip”.

Richard is survived by his two daughters Rhonda (Charlie) and Julie, his grandchildren Aliah and Alex,  and by many special extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, and his siblings, (John, George, Rose, Mary, and Margaret).
