After a 4 year battle with cancer, Peter Edward Pinder passed away at Surrey Memorial Hospital on July 18, 2024, with his family present, at the age of 70 years. Peter was born in Vancouver, BC, on February 15, 1954. From a young age, Peter had a strong sense of self, with a work ethic and moral compass to match. Peter was a homeowner for many years, having purchased his first property in his early 20's. He found his life partner in Gina in 1977 (both avid hockey fans), married in 1980, began his family in 1983 and became a grandfather for the first time in 2010. Peter was proud to have worked for Canadian Linen for 40 years before retiring at the age of 61 years. After he retired, Peter was able to spend more time on his other love in life: golf. In one of those years, he was proud to have completed over 355 rounds of golf. Peter worked hard, stayed modest, and he achieved everything he wanted in life.

Peter was predeceased by his mother, Irene, and his brother, Spencer. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Gina and their two children: Julia and Derek, and his grandchildren: Clara, Damon, Jack and Jeremy, as well as his brothers: Joe, David and Rob and his sisters: Betty, Anne and Trish and his many nieces and nephews and their families.

Peter will always be remembered and admired for his strength, honesty, work ethic, moral sense and (of course) his love of golf. He was very well-loved, and he will be missed every day by all of his beloved family members and dear friends.

*Per Peter's request, there will be no service.

Peter - what to say my friend….you have been a steady rock to our life long friendships for both Dave and myself ( over 50 years). In that time and over the years we have created soooo many wonderful memories and when all is said and done that is really all that we have - MEMORIES!!! I remember when I first met you and Steen was with you and I thought “they are as tall as the sky” as I had never met anyone as tall as you! Memories of our wedding, your wedding, all the camping trips, the ones I cherish the most is the conversations - the practical way you looked at things, how we could exchange stories about the paths our lives took us and our family stories. Now this goes waaay back when you and Gina would come over and you would right away wrestle with Jamie and get him all wound up which eventually exhausted him.
We unfortunately lost touch for quite a few years but whenever we met it was like we never missed a step - we would pick up where we left off. When you told us that day in Starbucks that you had Cancer we were both devastated but felt your optimism which we tried to carry that with us. We were so grateful for the times we all (Laurie, Steen & Trish, and Dave and I and of course you and Gina) had on our Tim Hortons afternoons and at Steen & Trish’s place for bbq’s - those were the times we shared so many memories and had so much laughter in doing so.
I just want to say that you will be sorely missed by us all! We love you and thank you for your friendship! We will keep in touch with Gina when she is ready - she is our friend also and if she ever needs anything all she has to do is ask.
We are sending this to your family with much love, many hugs, and many tears.
Dave & Phyllis
