With the deepest sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Langston, cherished mother to Wendy (Bob) and Bill (Pavinder); sister to Vivian, Joanne, and predeceased by brother Doug (Dot); grandmother to Trevor, Katrina (Jared) and Julia (Santi); Aunt to Todd (Nyree), Clint (Kathy), Angie (Brett), Nicole (John); and friend to all who knew her.

Born June 14, 1937, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, to her beloved Nels and Edna Pearce, Marg passed away peacefully on February 2nd at Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by husband Roy and her first husband Harvey.

Marg was extremely sharp, a smart woman who worked outside the home as a legal secretary, making lifelong work friends at any organization smart enough to hire her.

Her love of travel took her many places - Hawaii was the place she most often reflected on.  She often spoke of how the climate and smell of the local flowers remained a favorite memory. Many happy years were spent at various vacation homes, first on Mayne Island where the family built and enjoyed a vacation home, then at Pitt Lake and Nazko, and most recently at her “happy place”, the cabin on Pender Island she shared with her daughter and son in law.

Forever young, she enjoyed music and dancing, snowmobiling, back country ATV riding, trips to the hot springs, boating up the river to Pitt Lake, and leisurely ferry rides to Pender Island. She brought with her happiness, a positive outlook, and an incredible sense of fun.

Later, in her retirement years, she volunteered at the Seniors Centre and at the Therapeutic Riding Association.

A fierce competitor any time we got together for Crib, 31, Bridge, Scrabble, or many of the games enjoyed at family gatherings where the cutthroat competition inevitably deteriorated, ultimately peppered with uncontrollable laughter, bad language, and free flowing wine. We looked forward to every visit, meal shared, and casual or deep, meaningful chats.

Margaret was the “cool” Mom & Grandma, loved by her bio family, chosen family, and friends - everyone loved her deeply. Nothing gave her more joy than being with her grandkids, who adored her beyond words.

Marg’s affection and warmth, her joyous laugh, her sense of humour, and positive outlook on any problem will not be forgotten. Her devotion to those she loved was constant.

She is and will be deeply missed.

Details of celebration of life to follow.
