It is with profound sorrow that the family of Keith Marshall Doherty announce his passing on December 31, 2025 at the age of 81, after a courageous and valiant battle with Parkinsons.
Keith was born in Southport, England to Richard Henry Doherty and Christina Marshall (Parsons) and was the younger brother to Cyril “Cy” Richard Doherty.
Keith worked for CP Airlines, Manchester Liners, had his own business – Cratex UK, followed by a successful career in abrasives sales for several large companies including Carborundum UK, Carborundum North America, Norton and Tyrolit. He later formed his own company, KMD Abrasives, and was the exclusive distributor for SIA Abrasives in western Canada.
Keith loved to golf, read biographies, drink wine, cheer on his favourite teams Everton FC, BC Lions and Vancouver Canucks. He enjoyed practical jokes, laughter and was the mischievous one. Keith had a fantastic sense of humour, was generous to a fault and made everyone he met feel comfortable and welcome.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ann, adored daughters Nicola (Michael McGovern), Joanna and Kate, and cherished grandsons Robert and Andrew. Keith, Dad, Boppa – you are missed!
The family wishes to thank the teams at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, and George Derby in Burnaby for their kindness, compassion and medical care.
To honour Keith’s wishes to be cremated and have a good old-fashioned wake, a celebration of life will take place in Tsawwassen later this month.
Donations to the Salvation Army in Keith’s name would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Nicola and I have been close friends since high school, and even as a young teenager it was easy to see that “Mr Doherty”/Keith had a kind + funny way with others, a twinkle in his eye and a bit of a mischievous swagger. Keith and Nic always seemed to have a particularly special bond, and they connected on everything from sports highlights to life advice. I remember Keith as a loving Dad, his daughters’ biggest fan, and as someone who always made me feel like part of the family whether I was hanging out at the house, at a BC Lions game, at a dinner out or whatever else it was that I was invited to join. I’m so, so sorry for your loss, sincere condolences to the whole Doherty family.

In Loving Memory of Keith.
Keith was a loving and devoted father who shared a very special bond with his daughter, Kate. He always supported her and showed his love through warmth, humor, and affection often joking with Kate followed by a hug and kiss. Kate especially cherished having a hot drink with her dad during the visits at George Derby.
Keith will be deeply missed by Kate and all who knew him. On behalf of House 4 and Kyndred, we extend our sincere condolences to Anne, Nicola, Jojo and the entire family. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

I was fortunate to know Keith as both a colleague and a friend for nearly 35 years.
He was a great guy with a wonderful sense of humour and a smile that always seemed to be there, no matter the day.
He brought laughter, kindness, and positivity into the lives of everyone around him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Sincere condolences to Anne and family!
