Fred spent his last days surrounded by loved ones and passed peacefully in his sleep at The Christine Morrison Hospice.

He is survived by his daughter Gale Mackenzie, step daughters Tracy Carrie and Corina Morrison, sister Gale Ross (Warren) , his grandchildren Dalen Hebert (Lunar) and Marie Mackenzie (Adam) and many other beloved family and friends.  He is predeceased by his parents Anne and David Ross and brother David Ross.

Fred was born October 3rd 1947 in Vancouver to mother Anne Ross (Osiniak) and father David Ross.  The Ross family moved to Cultus Lake in the early 1960’s where Fred later built a home, a family and a community.  Anyone who knew Fred knew that he was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for exploration and adventure. He lived an extremely full life in many parts thanks to his decision and commitment to sobriety, October 2025 was his 47th year sober. Fred was a pillar in the AA community and helped many people in their journeys through sobriety.

A celebration of life shall be held at a future date sometime in January, after the holiday season. At this time if you wish to reach out to the family with fond memories of Fred or photographs, they are much appreciated.  We send our love to everyone who had the honour of meeting and experiencing such an impactful man.

In lieu of flowers any donations in Fred’s memory can be made to the Christine Morrison Hospice where he spent his final days in comfort and peace.

Grandpa Fuzz was a role model, and a great support. I am thankful to have had the chance to spend time with him cycling, and at the Alano club playing crib.

I met Fred just over 20 years ago when I started working at the Chilliwack Alano Club at 13 months sober ( from Calgary ) …little did I know what life would be like over the next 20 years …what a good friend Fred was to so many of us …I told him i wanted to get a hope chest made for my daughter and we chatted about that and then he says he could make one for me …it was so beautiful..it still is …he carved out a little centrepiece inside the chest and I put my one year medallion in it ..my daughter just loved it and now it has some crayon scribbles on it from my granddaughter..lol…it meant the world to me that Fred made it ❤️I am going to miss Fred sitting at the club having his lunch then asking if he could have an itty bitty piece of banana blueberry bread …and then he’d say ..” oh I can work that off with a bike ride home “ I love ya my friend …rest well now ..lots of friends with you in heaven ..missing you already ❤️love and friendship Debbie

my heartfelt condolences on Fred's passing (Fuzz, as I knew him) I met him when I was 12 years old and now at 68 years old I still have the best and fondest memories. Tracey and Cory were so young, Cory had not started school yet. Fred was always wonderful to me. When Hazel would ask me to babysit I could not wait. I loved going to their home and feeling like I was always a part of the family. As I got older ( a teenager) I would stay the weekends and thru summer as it was my home away from home in the summers . Hazel would pay me for babysitting and when she was not looking Fred would slip me an extra $10.00. Then his daughter Gale was born and he was just over the moon!! He loved his family!! Fuzz, you will be missed by many!! May you rest in peace my friend.
