Evelyn was born in Maple Ridge, QC but grew up in Miami, MB. The eldest of seven, Sister helped raise most of her siblings until the family moved to Elgin, MB. and she remained in Miami working as Chief Telephone Operator for Manitoba Telephone. It was there that she met and married Jarmy (1948), who with his managerial career at CIBC was moved around to many small towns throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba, finally settling in Winnipeg until his retirement in 1978. They then moved west to escape the months of snow and mosquitoes and to be closer to the kids in Vancouver and Calgary; spending 19 very happy years in Hope, BC living out near Kawkawa Lake; enjoying the mountains, the outdoors, gardening and enjoying the company of many good friends. Mom was the churchgoer of the family and loved singing in the choir in every community. She was also an avid curler and, in her youth loved to ski. In 1998, with Dad's failing health they moved one final time to White Rock, BC. Mom spent the next 17 years enjoying condo life in Stratford Gardens where she made friends, joined committees, enjoyed regular walks on the beachfront promenade with her kindred spirit, Alberta Kerr and happily entertained visiting family; especially her beloved grandsons.

Mom's memory began to fail and she suffered many fractures due to osteoporosis, so in 2015, she moved to Concord Retirement Residence by the Sea. It was another family to her, with the kindest and most caring staff and residents. She celebrated her 100th birthday there; albeit a much smaller celebration of course, due to Covid-19. We cannot thank Holly and the rest of the staff at Concord enough for a most wonderful 7 years, enjoying the splendour of the gardens, the special celebration parties, the great food and the loving care.

Mom was a loving, kind, gracious, grateful caring soul to the end and she will be missed.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, George (Geordie) and wee Jeanie Grant; husband, Jarmy (1998) and eldest son, Grant (2000), as well as brothers Lawrence (Doreen, deceased), brother-in-law Paton (Shirley) Wilson, James (Theona Grace) sister, Eileen (Gilbert, deceased) Maguire, Ted (Lorna) Grant, niece, Barb (Phil) Gullett and nephew Grant (Doris) Maguire. She will be missed by brother Marvyn (Bev) Grant, Shirley Wilson, many more loving nieces and nephews; grandson, Geoff (mom, Bev), son Warren, grandsons, Scott and Tim and daughter, Diane.

Also, many thanks to the wonderful and caring team at Melville Hospice House.

A small private service was held Tuesday June 1 and her ashes will be scattered with Dad's near Hope, at his favourite spot, Sucker Creek where the salmon spawn.
